IT IS FINISHED!

Well, not quite. 🤪

Joseph has received his Certificate of Ministry from Meachum School of Haymanot (theology)! This certificate is awarded after tamahari (students) have completed 18 credit hours. Joseph has completed 27 of the 72 credit hours necessary for the Masters of Divinity that he is pursuing. Thus, we headed to Chicago for the Meachum Annual Meeting, where some scholars present their latest research papers and others receive their certificates and degrees.

All of the weekend's events happened at Chicago's Lilydale First Baptist Church. As usual, the panels and speakers were captivating and informative. It's always enlightening and honestly, a pleasure to see black Biblical scholarship that holds the Word of God with integrity. This year's papers mostly revolved around the pre-colonial presence of Christianity in Africa. It was great!

In addition to the Annual Meeting, we were able to stop in the Grand Rapids area on our way and spend the night with our cousins Brian and Grace on the Robinson side. It's always great to spend time with them and see their boys. Brian just finished seminary and is starting his ministry and running for the school board of his community, so there was a lot to discuss and catch up on! These are exciting times!

The boys (Canaan, Jude, and Jacob) had a half day, so we were able to have lunch with the whole gang and the girls enjoyed jumping on the trampoline with them before we continued our trip to the Chicago area. It was a beautiful afternoon of fellowship and family time.

After that, we stopped in Indiana to connect with some friends, Michael and Mica, before heading to our final destination for the long weekend. We had a long day, but it was all wonderful!

We stayed with some friends in Ford Heights for the weekend and had a blast connecting with their family. They were such great hosts!

The Annual Meeting was on Friday and Saturday, with a Gala and Silent Auction on Thursday evening. We ended up not making it to the Gala, as we had dinner and Bible Study with our friends. They are doing great work for the Lord by loving their neighbors and sharing God's Word in their community. It was a blessing to see how they're living for God over there.

Before heading back on Sunday, we went to service at New Hope Congregational Church of God in Christ! It was good to fellowship with some of the saints who knew Joseph from the time he was born. This is a church that used to regularly fellowship with Joseph's childhood church. I had met some of the members who have visited Zion since we have been married, but many I had not! Hannah and Ida really enjoyed the children's Sunday School class and the new friends they met there!

Our trip back home was smooth, and we had yet another great road trip under our belts. God went before us and was with us throughout our time.

Until next time!
